Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)

The Belgrade Police Department has four members of the Gallatin County Sexual Response Team (SART) which includes officers from both the Detective Division (Detective Sergeant Lensing and Detective Sharp) and the Patrol Division (Sergeant Sprague and Officer Brupbacher). SART is a multi-agency investigatory team that was developed to improve the investigation and prosecution of sexually based crimes. These members of SART are responsible for investigating all sexually based crimes within the City of Belgrade.

All members of SART are trained in forensic child interview and are often called upon to interview young children as a part of investigations of both sexual and non-sexual crimes. In this capacity SART members work closely with the Department of Health and Human Services to protect children from abuse.

The Belgrade Police Department houses a specially designed Sexual Assault and Child Interview Room which is used by members of multiple agencies to assist in the investigation of these crimes.
